His three reasons for staying gone, revenge fuels his fire, then he remembers the glowing tales his comrades spoke about the place they came from, Jimmy decides to go to Texas and search for the perpetrators along the way.On his way out of town Jimmy stumbles upon two dead Yankee soldiers, a wagon and its team. One soldier’s body guards a journal detailing the fight with the renegades that killed Jimmy’s family and ultimately, the soldiers themselves. The journal names one renegade- “Chance” and how the soldier with the journal buried the southern family after the death of his partner.As he stumbles over one of his mother’s old cook pots an idea begins to take shape and he sets the wagon up as a chuck wagon and heads for Texas. He learns of a drive heading for El Paso. He tracks down the trail boss and secures a position as the ‘Cookie’ for the outfit.Follow Jimmy’s journey through Texas, Indian Territory and ultimately Kansas as he learns his heart, is drawn to his purpose, love and ultimately the resolution for revenge he can’t help but take.
